The Demo...


As mentioned previously, I am not planning on finishing the entire game before releasing it. Several reasons are behind this.

  1. I want to get something out sooner.
  2. If I can catch some issues early on, then it would obviously be easier to learn from them then, than fix things later on.
  3. Community building
  4. Feedback

That list isn't conclusive, but hopefully, the point is made.

The purpose of this post is to primarily address my ideas and goals for what the first demo release for Fading Away will be comprised of.

  1. Five main areas around the Cersedd/Dormedon/Silent Forest regions of Therge. Each of these areas will contain smaller zones that range in number from one to seven. Each "zone," is one screen.
  2. Four living npcs that provide both specific quests for you to accomplish, as well as ongoing resource and protection-based quests.
  3. Three ghost npcs who can give to you the secrets lost to time.
  4. Wide range of items to add variety in how you can play the game.
  5. Secrets and forgotten tales that few may now know.

Gameplay-wise, I am working on the following:

  1. Trade with npcs
  2. Dialogue events
  3. Item evolution
  4. Combat
  5. Animation
  6. Music
